Wow what a rollercoaster the last 18 months have been! From May to August 2025, I was establishing my Private Practice in Townsville. Everything was going to plan at my new consulting room in Flinders Street, and I was seeing face-to-face clients there, and supporting some of my WA clients by Zoom, or phone, and doing EAP Critical Incident support which I found to be extremely rewarding work. As I am a breast cancer survivor from 2001, I have yearly mammograms and I went for my first Queensland checks in September. All my checks in WA had been clear so I wasn't apprehensive at all until Queensland called me back for further tests. To cut a very long story short, in November 2025 I was diagnosed with breast cancer again! As I didn't know what my ability to travel would be in 2026, I went to see family and friends in the UK for Christmas. I had surgery in early February 2026, and then again in March as the cancer had travelled to a lymph node (on the other side to the cancer!). After having all the lymph nodes removed on that side, I was diagnosed with Lymphoedema which has required a lot of treatment. Sorry everyone, but in the midst of all this I just went into freeze! I am feeling much better now and my treatments are all completed, so I'm working on exercise, and diet, and maintaining a positive mental attitude. My first year post-treatment checks are in April next year. I am not seeing one-to-one clients at the moment. I am currently working in EAP Critical Incident Support counselling roles, and working hard as the President of the ATAA, while I build up my work base into and throughout 2027.
